The US and Iran have agreed to halt strikes after a three-day escalation of conflict in the Strait of Hormuz. The two sides will meet in Qatar on Tuesday to discuss disagreements over navigation in the strait, as the renewed attacks threaten to collapse their interim peace deal, signed just 11 days ago.
Following the new strikes on Iran, President Donald Trump warned the Unitd States may "be forced to militarily complete the job."
The president did not say how or whether he would respond, a day after Iran fired on a container ship that was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, an act Mr. Trump called “foolish.”
The U.S. military says it hit Iranian targets over Iran's drone attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first American strikes on Iran since the two countries formally agreed to extend a ceasefire last week.
U.S. Central Command said Friday that its forces struck “missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites.”
